The idea to write such a 'Nature Guide Langkawi' popped up, when in the beginning of the Nineties guests from all over the world were commenting on the lack of information regarding the Langkawi fauna and flora. Five years after intensive research and studies, the first edition was out, only to be followed by a complete new edition, published by May 2004 … and the hopefully satisfying result lies in your hands, dear reader!
Langkawi's nature is too multi facetted and diversified to cover everything in one book. A book like this one should and will help to give the guest staying two to three weeks on the island, explanations and information regarding commonly spotted animals and plants. New contents cover more of the geology, also because much new research has been done in the past few years on this subject.
My thanks are especially to my family, which had to miss me quite a lot during the last months of giving the book the final touch. Judy our Spectacled Leaf Monkey and companion of many years decided to change her life back into the wild - we hope that her new family will have as much fun with her as we did!
